Writing the Score
The creators of the show, Justice Parman and Josh George, reached out to me during pre-production and asked if I would be interested in creating an original soundtrack based on the Larry D. story.
After hearing an outline of the season, I was eager to get started.
I produced an early cut of the title theme during a visit to Los Angeles in early 2017, sitting in with the crew. My trip also coincided with a filming date for one of the episodes, and I got the chance to make a brief cameo as a Larry D. fan.
The show's director, Justice Parman and I bounced copies of the title theme back and forth over the next couple months with small notes until we locked in the core feel he wanted to go for in the final cut(s).
During post-production, Justice flew up to visit me at my home studio (at the time, in Kitsap County, Washington). Sitting together, we worked off of a picture locked version of the pilot episodes to help me compose the rest of the score over 3 days.
The first episodes of the series aired exclusively at a premiere party and on Facebook Watch in February of 2019.
